By means of a hand pump, a defined amount of measuring gas is sucked into the test tube, which has a scale for reading the coloration or decoloration value. The measurement principle is suitable for dry and wet gases. Due to the quantization of the sucked gas amount, the standard measuring range can be made more or less sensitive by a factor of up to 10. Then, however, a limitation of the measurement accuracy has to be accepted.
