Using ozone testing will determine the durability and guarantee the reliability of your material. The results of the investigation are essential for the development of the rubber and automotive industry to predict the formation of cracks and thus the service life of the material. With the help of the ozone resistance tests the durability can be determine and the reliability of the materials is thus guaranteed.

In the production of the automotive industry, metal components are increasingly being replaced with plastic components. The components are exposed to various environmental conditions. Cracking occurs particularly in elastomeric plastics such as door and window seals, windscreen wipers or axle covers in vehicles. In this respect, the durability and quality of the rubber ensure the longevity of the vehicle components and thus the adequate safety of the automobile. An occurring defect can be foreseen with the help of a sufficient test and can be remedied at an early stage. Sufficient test regulations and standard standards are available for this purpose.
The lightweight construction of aircraft is increasingly presenting aircraft manufacturers with new challenges. The safety of aircraft parts requires the durability of plastics. Even the smallest insulation cracks can lead to the formation of toxic vapours or even a cable fire.
In addition, complex repairs are largely avoided in this way and costs are saved.
The lack of available rubber entails high costs. Investigating cracks in the tires of vehicles or elevators allows improving and ensuring long-lasting rubbers. Optimize your tire production with continuous checking and adjustment of the material composition.

Patented testing tools put your rubber samples to the test. Depending on their test standard, the rubber samples are tested in the ozone test cabinets. The operational test systems subject the rubbers to intermittent stress until they break. The samples are placed in the appropriate testing facilities for testing. Appropriate advice is available to you for setting up a test laboratory and carrying out the test process.
Different test conditions are subject to the test standards. The manufacture of cables and insulation is based on specific standards such as IEC 60811-2-1. However, this standard differs from the ozone testing standards. The differences lie in the longitudinal flow direction of the specimens and in the turbulent flow through the ozone test chambers. The requirements of the standard are met by the ozone test cabinets used with the appropriate test tools.
So-called ozone test cabinets are used for the implementation. The test chambers are filled with ozone gas and can control the temperature and humidity in the test room. Ozone tests for rubber materials and cable insulation are subject to the strictest guidelines. The test specimens can be subjected to standard-specific static and dynamic loads. Standardized parameters from various organizations (DIN, ISO, ASTM, etc.) are available for suitable applications.
